The Daring Billionaire’s Wife by Lypstical

Chapter 129

Vanessa

I had no plans of meeting Patrick this morning but at his request to urgently meet up, I changed my mind about it. He also said he needed to talk to me in private, which meant I shouldn't have my bodyguards. Usually, I wouldn't listen to him but the tone of his voice when he said it made me wonder just how serious this was, so here I am, meeting him on the street that he mentioned with the intention to leave my bodyguards in their car.

I spot him standing by the sidewalk and he instantly rushes to the car, looking a little troubled and scruffy, which greatly worries me.

"Is everything alright?" I ask

"Hey, we really need to talk." His eyes widen a little. "Come with me."

"Where?"

"It's not too far from here. We need privacy as much as possible."

I shake my head as I question if I'm really about to do this, then step out of the car and follow him. He leads me to an alley, making me feel a bit uncomfortable.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

"Why did you bring me here?" I ask.

"Just so we could talk. How are you doing?"

"Are you being serious right now?"

He chuckles.

"Wait, are you drunk?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"It doesn't matter. This was the only way I could do this. I knew that if I mentioned my apartment, you wouldn't want to go there after what happened last time." "And so you thought this was a better idea?"

"Yes," he says with confidence. "I just..."

He trails off when my phone suddenly rings from my bag and I already have an idea of who it could be.

I gesture to him with my hand to wait and he nods as I pick up to talk to my father.

Right after the call, Patrick says, "Is everything alright?"

"Everything's fine."

"You looked a little sad even though you smiled."

"Was it that obvious?"

"Yes, so what's going on?"

I sigh heavily, deciding to tell him about my father's health condition and as soon as I'm done, he takes a step forward and wraps his arms around me. "I'm so sorry about that," he says.

I'm not even able to hug him back as I'm irritated and it's not even because of the slight smell of alcohol now that he's so close. It's the way he holds me tightly. "Can you stop?" I say to him, my voice firm.

He takes a step back. "Sorry, that was supposed to happen afterwards."

"After what?" I narrow my eyes.

He smacks his lips. "The reason I brought you here was because I really had something to say. When I saw you again at the orphanage, I thought that all I felt was regret but it wasn't. Now more than ever, I'm sure of it."

"What are you talking about?"

"Believe it or not..." He trails off, taking a step forward and looking right into my eyes. "I love you."

Too stunned to speak, I stand frozen in place and he suddenly kisses me on the lips as he wraps his arms around me and for a few seconds, my heart races with wide eyes as I process what's going on. Then, I come back to my senses, push him away and slap him hard on the cheek.

"What the hell is wrong with you? How dare you do that in such a public place?" I glare at him.

He stumbles backwards, massaging his cheek while looking to the side as he says, "It's not like anyone saw that. Just in case you're starting to think it's the alcohol, it's not. I've wanted to do this for a while and it's only now that I've mustered the courage."

I look away in disbelief. "How could you say such a thing to me when I'm married and you know that I love my husband?"

He scoffs, triggering me.

"What's with that reaction?" I ask.

"Nothing," he says.

"What did you aim to achieve by doing this?"

"I just wanted you to know."

"And then what?"

He scoffs again.

"Why do you keep doing that?" I ask, irritated.

"It's nothing. Do you really feel nothing for me?"

I pause for a few seconds, trying to search in my heart. "I feel absolutely nothing for you."

"It's crazy how things have changed." He gives a half smile as he lowers his head.

"I still can't get over the fact that you thought you had a chance with me."

"I was absolutely certain."

"And why's that the case?" I cross my arms.

"It doesn't matter."

"I really shouldn't have come here. I can't believe I was so worried that I decided to follow you." I shake my head, disgusted and disappointed as I turn around. "Vanessa, wait."

"What is it?" I stop in my tracks.

"I'm not sorry about any of this."

I clench my jaw, trying so hard not to turn around and slap him again, so I face ahead and storm out so I can leave and finally get to my father's house.

During the ride, I can only think about what gave him the audacity to do all that and the kiss was unexpected and I hated it.

There once was a time when his

kisses always left me wanting more as I was in love with him and now, there's none of that spark left. It's only when Dominic kisses me that I feel that way and the thought of him makes me feel guilty as I wonder if Ptell him about this.

Frank parks his car right where we left mine and I immediately step out, slamming the door shut.

"Dude, is everything okay with you?" he asks, stepping out from the other side.

"I'm fine." I lean against his car, crossing my arms.

"Are you sure about that?"

"I said I'm fine." I look over my shoulder, then look away.

"That just confirms that you're not fine." He approaches me and stands right beside me. "The goal of this long drive was to help clear your head, but by the looks of things, it didn't work. What made you so upset? In fact you're more upset than before."

"How many times do I have to tell you that I'm fine?"

He chuckles. "You do realize that you can lie to everyone else but me. Just talk to me."

Realizing he sees right through me, I sigh deeply. "It's Vanessa."

"What happened? Is she okay?"

"She told me she's going to see her dad but she's actually with Patrick."

"You make it sound like that's a big problem. She's hung out with him before, so why did that upset you so much?"

"During the drive about 30 minutes ago, I got a glimpse of them in an alley and they were kissing."

"What?" He takes a step back, then bursts into laughter.

"You think this is funny?" I clench my fists.

He places his hand on the side of his

rib. "Wait, just give me a moment He laughs for a few more seconds, then composes himself. "Why didn't you show me? And why are you so upset about this?"

"Because she lied to me."

"Really?"

"Why else would I be upset?"

"Maybe someone is jealous."

I scoff. "Why would I be jealous? It's not like I feel anything for her."

"Your face says otherwise. Have you ever seen her kiss anyone else before?"

"No."

"And there you have it. You didn't know that it would hurt like shit and seeing it for the first time obviously got on your nerves."

"Stop making assumptions on things that aren't even true."

"Hey, how about we go back there so I can see them kiss?"

"I don't want to see that shit again."

"Then tell me where exactly I can find them just so I can see."

"I could punch you in the face right now."

He snickers at me. "Sorry, dude. Do you think they're fucking?"

"After what I saw, I wouldn't be surprised. I had plans of canceling the match with Patrick this afternoon, but on second thought, I'll teach him a lesson."

"Whoa! You meant that literally, right?"

I clench my jaw, tilting my head to the side. "Take it however you want, but I'll definitely not go easy on him this afternoon."
