Chapter 355
If Charles actually believed Wesley was out to harm Dahlia, he'd have no qualms about sending him to prison, just like he did two years ago, ensuring he got the toughest sentence possible. Back then, when the whole thing with Evelyn went down, Wesley willingly took the fall for Dahlia and their daughter, because he loved Dahlia deeply. He genuinely thought Dahlia loved their daughter just as fiercely and would look after her. Wesley had no worries leaving Sandy in Dahlia's
care.
But now, knowing the truth about how Dahlia treated Sandy, Wesley couldn't shake the images of Sandy's bruises and the pinpricks on her skin. Mr. Cooper, their neighbor, had mentioned seeing Sandy leave Dahlia's room with her cheeks all swollen more than once. And that video of Sandy, shivering and looking so pitiful, haunted him.
What he knew might just be scratching the surface. Without his watchful eye, who knows what else Sandy would endure? The thought of his precious daughter suffering again was unbearable. So, he couldn't afford to land in jail.noveldrama
Plus, he needed to get Sandy back, to keep her safe with him. But that meant going against Dahlia, the woman he loved with every fiber of his being.
Caught between the woman he adored and his darling daughter, Wesley was in a battle with himself when Charles stepped in front of him, his voice icy, "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
With those words, Charles kicked Wesley hard.
Pain exploded through Wesley's ribs, and he let out a sharp, agonized scream. He curled up, drenched in cold sweat from the agony.
Despite the searing pain, Wesley couldn't help but glance past Charles at Dahlia, who sat a few steps away on the sofa. Deep down, he clung to a glimmer of hope.
Maybe he got it all wrong. Perhaps Charles just showed up by chance, and Dahlia only said those things out of fear and panic.
But when their eyes met, hers were cold and indifferent. Not a trace of affection for him lingered in those tear-filled eyes.
Wesley's heart sank into a frozen abyss. There was no more room for self- deception. Dahlia truly wanted to see him suffer.
The internal scales that had been teetering finally tipped towards his daughter Just as Charles was about to kick him again, Wesley, eyes. blazing red, yelled, "Mr. Jenkins, I didn't force Dahlia. She called me. She was willing, always willing."
Wesley hoped to lay bare the truth of his relationship with Dahlia to Charles. If Charles knew everything and decided to leave Dahlia, she'd have no choice but to be with him and Sandy.
"Do you take me for a fool?" Charles remembered his first glimpse upon entering,
and with a surge of anger, kicked Wesley hard in the chest again.
Wesley couldn't withstand the blow, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
"Mr. Jenkins, I'm telling the truth."
"Charles, I didn't. He's lying," Dahlia cried out from the sofa, her voice thick with the pain of being wronged.
"Dahlia, am I the liar, or is it you?" Wesley asked, heart aching as he looked at her.
Were those passionate nights and her sincere declarations of love all a sham?
Charles watched Wesley closely.
The way Wesley called Dahlia's name was so natural, and his eyes brimmed with deep affection. For just a moment, even Charles, who was so sure of Dahlia, felt a seed of doubt.
Looking at Wesley, he blurted out, "Where's your proof?"
What do you think?
