Chapter 1524
**
The next day.
Calvin went to see Hank, choosing the same spot where they had last met.
"...about the patent matter, I only found out after Mr. Zane from our department mentioned it—that he had already gone ahead and filed the application."
Calvin's lips curled into a bitter smile as he explained.
Hank tapped his fingers lightly on the table, his face not showing the annoyance Calvin had anticipated, which made him breathe a sigh of relief.
"Mr. Calvin, you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. The actions of the teachers in your department are understandable," Hank said lightly.
Calvin chuckled awkwardly, finding no words to respond.
"However...to do such a thing without any heads-up does impact everyone's relations," Hank's gaze fell on Calvin, his voice quite soft.
Calvin felt a jump in his heart, knowing that even though it wasn't their side's fault, he still lowered his stance, nodding repeatedly at Hank, "Yes, you're right, Hank. This action indeed hurt the harmony."
Hank's lips twitched slightly, picking up his coffee cup and sipping leisurely, "We at Dane value the patent for this project greatly."
Calvin was momentarily stunned; he naturally knew of Dane.
A top researcher who had made numerous contributions to the nation, but he hadn't expected him to be interested in this.
Calvin felt overwhelmed, cursing Zane in his heart. If only he had spoken up sooner, it wouldn't have led to such an awkward situation.
Taking a deep breath, Calvin apologized again, "Given the current situation, I really am..."
Before he could finish saying "powerless," Hank's assistant, who was standing by his side, interrupted.
"Right, I remember the patent certificate hasn't been issued yet, is it possible to withdraw the application?"
Hank's assistant asked Calvin in a somewhat uncertain tone.
Calvin looked at the assistant; he had considered this before, but asking Zane to withdraw the
application, especially with his attitude that day, seemed impossible.
Not only impossible, but it might even lead to seeking help from Wade, making the situation even uglier.
And if Zane made a big fuss, escalating it to the Prestige College administration, his position as department head might well be over.
Calvin pinched the bridge of his nose, eventually saying, "Withdrawing the application might not be feasible, as the school has also filed a report."
Hank glanced at Calvin, seemingly having anticipated this, he put down his coffee cup and calmly said, "Not withdrawing the application might not necessarily be a bad thing."
Upon hearing this, Calvin suddenly looked up.
Hank curled his lips, speaking unhurriedly, "I've already been in touch with the person in charge over at DO Group."
Almost the instant Calvin heard this, he understood Hank's implication...
*
Calvin and Hank didn't chat for too long, soon after, they both left the coffee shop.
Outside, the weather was turning gloomy, and it started to rain while Calvin was driving back to the college.
However, he didn't turn back home and instead headed to the college.
At this time, in the office, Zane was still organizing materials, with the new
semester starting in a few days, he had been extremely busy.
Just as he placed a stack of documents back into the cabinet, he heard a knock on the door.
Zane looked up to see Mr. Calvin standing at the doorway, he paused for a second, but quickly regained his composure.noveldrama
"Mr. Calvin," Zane greeted him with a neutral tone.
Calvin, seemingly oblivious to Zane's
attitude, stepped in, his gaze sweeping over the bookshelf next to
him before casually retracting it, "I need to talk to you about something."
What do you think?
