Chapter 2725
As Frank and Drunken Moon chatted, a thirtyish man opened the door. His
tailored suit was draped lopsidedly, and stubble grew all over his chin.
On top of that, there were wide dark circles under his eyes, both of which were
bloodshot.
"Drunken Moon?" His eyes lit up when he realized who it was, but only for a
second as his gaze soon dulled again.
Drunken Moon turned to Frank. "Allow me to introduce you to a friend, Lugh
Frankton. Lugh, this is my friend Zein Dunham. You can just call him Zein."
After the men shook hands, Zein ushered them inside and made them tea.
Then, he curled into himself as he sat on a couch, looking miserably insomniac.
"You don't look like yourself," Drunken Moon pointed out, puzzled. "Did you suffer
some sort of trauma?"
Zein smiled wryly. "You never know what could happen to you, I guess. Live and
let live."
Drunken Moon looked around and realized that all of Zein's wedding photos were
gone.
In fact, anything that had to do with Dani Farron, Zein's wife, was nowhere to be
seen, a clear sign of a divorce.
Drunken Moon then remembered that Dani's family owed almost a million in debt
when she married Zein. It was Zein who worked to clear her debt, but it seems
that she had divorced him after she became debt-free.
It was simply sickening.
"Everyone told you that the bitch was horrible, but you doubted us." Drunken
Moon smirked. "Too late now, is it?"
They were close enough to snark at each other anyway, so she was blunt about
her opinion.
And her words really infuriated Zein,
who picked up her teacup and
smashed it on the floor, yelling, "If
not for me, those loan sharks
would've sold her to some
third-world country!
"And now, after she met a rich prick, not only did she run away with him, but she
had to hurt me too!"
"What?!"
Drunken Moon was furious too-Dani's behavior was simply sickening. She really
was biting the hand that fed her!
Zein sighed as he sat on the couch. "Thank goodness you came, or I would have
to come to you up the mountains. That would really be a pain...
"Well, you've seen me now. You
should go if there's nothing
else-don't get involved with people
like me, because this is what I
deserve. No reason for you to get
into trouble... just stick to your work,
and you'll be fine."
While Zein was being stubborn, Drunken Moon was no Dani either.
Since she earnestly considered Zein a friend, she would never give up on him!
"I don't recall any issues with your company," she pressed. "Why are you acting
as if she'd definitely succeed in a takeover without letting you have a cent?"
Zein shook his head, exasperated. "I was so stupid to have left all vital operations
in her care, allowing her to take everything before I realized it."
Drunken Moon pointed out, "Then you can sue her for embezzlement!"
Zein smiled wryly, shaking his head.
"I thought so too, but she has
leverage against me. She warned
me that if I ever took action againstnoveldrama
her, she would pour my mother's
ashes into a pig sty."
Drunken Moon nodded-Zein held his mother in high regard because his family
was poor and depended on his mother completely for their livelihood.
Even if she was gone now, Zein remained ever grateful to her.
Moreover, it was a local tradition to never throw away a deceased's ashes, or it
would mean torment in the afterlife for the dead.
What do you think?
