The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 570 He Will Get Better

As Laura spoke, her eyes turned red, and she wiped away her tears, unable to stop herself from crying.

"Laura, don't cry." Natalie sighed. Now that the execution was over, it was time for them to leave.

"Marcus, let's take Laura back."noveldrama

Marcus remained indifferent the entire time, humming his response. His gaze was cold and sharp when he looked at the three criminals. Only after they fell to the ground and were declared dead did his expression change slightly.

Natalie had been quietly observing him. Yvette and Lina were both dead. Kenton, Yvette's most capable subordinate and the one who had done the most dirty work, was also dead.

Grace and Kenton were both gone for good, leaving the Langley family with no one left.

Victor was brought up by Grace but was not her biological son. They had already cut familial ties after Grace tried to have Selena sold.

Now, Victor and his family of three just wanted to live a stable life and work hard at the hospital to atone for their past sins.

Kenton's body was collected by Julie, while Charlene came to claim Yvette's and Lina's bodies.

"Mom, let's go."

Marcus withdrew his icy gaze, wrapping an arm around the sobbing Laura while intertwining his fingers with Natalie's.

After stepping down from the viewing platform, they got into the car and left.

On the way back, Natalie comforted Laura, and she gradually stopped crying. Marcus remained silent, but his mood was somber.

Natalie wasn't one to talk much either, so the car quickly fell into a heavy silence.

In the end, it was Connie who couldn't take it anymore and broke the tension. "Laura, do you have any other plans besides opening a flower shop when you return to Dithoria City?"

"I want to visit Father's grave first." Laura's voice was soft. "I didn't even get to attend his funeral when he passed away. I regret it so much.

"He was very kind to me when he was alive. Not being able to fulfill my duties as his daughter-in-law is my greatest regret."

Connie carefully glanced at Marcus, who was still silent. "Laura, don't blame yourself. It wasn't your fault."

"I know, but I still carry the regret."

Natalie spoke up at this moment. "Laura, Grandpa Charles left behind some words before he passed. He mentioned you."

"Really?" Laura immediately grabbed Natalie's hand. "What did he say?"

"He told you to live well and to love Marcus." Natalie looked at her seriously. "Grandpa Charles' biggest concern before he passed was that Marcus would be all alone once he was gone.

"He didn't have any hope for Wesley, but he wished for you to be there for Marcus. He knew you two had lost so many years together, and he wanted you to be a part of Marcus' life from now on.

"He wouldn't be able to see Marcus get married and have children, but he hoped you could be there in his place."

"Really?" Laura's tears fell uncontrollably again.

"Nat, I will. Even if he hadn't said it, I would have done it."

"So Laura, for Marcus' sake, you have to take care of yourself from now on."

"I will." Laura suddenly found new hope in life. She now knew what she needed to

do.

"Are we heading back to the hotel now?"

"Yes, we'll go back to the hotel and prepare to return to Dithoria City."

"Alright."

"Mom," Marcus suddenly called. "Do you still want to continue running your Helianese restaurant?

"Grandpa asked me to take care of it for you all these years. Now that you're back, do you want to take over the restaurant yourself?"

Laura thought for a moment before nodding. "Yes, I'll open a flower shop right next to the restaurant.

"I'll hire a manager to run the restaurant, and I'll manage the flower shop myself. I'll just drop by the restaurant occasionally to check on things. Marcus, does that sound good to you?"

"That works."

Marcus had no objections to what Laura wanted to do. He was only worried that she would overthink things if she had too much free time.

Another concern was that she had been isolated from the world for so many years, barely interacting with anyone.

She needed time to reintegrate into society.

Opening a flower shop alone might be too much too soon. Even if she planned to

run it by herself, Marcus was still uneasy.

She was breathtakingly beautiful,

and after years of suffering from Umbrahex, her skin had only become more porcelain-like, nearly translucent. Now that she was finally recovering, her complexion had improved, making her look even more stunning.

She had endured so much, but time seemed to have favored her. She didn't look

like a woman who had given birth or aged at all.

Marcus had every reason to be concerned. He could have people protect her in secret, but that wasn't the kind of life she wanted.

If her flower shop was next to the restaurant, then at least she would always be surrounded by his people.

"I suggest that Laura meet my mother first when we get back," Natalie said softly. "She's been wanting to see you for a long time. But for various reasons, she hasn't been able to visit you yet.

"Laura, you and my mother haven't seen each other in years. You must miss her, right?"

"Yes, I do. Charlotte is the eldest daughter of the Kennedy family, but she never once looked down on me for being an orphan."

Laura wiped away her tears. "Meeting Wesley was the greatest blessing of my life, though it was also my greatest misfortune.

"But I'm still grateful to him. It was him who helped me cross social classes and made my son the heir of the Holden family."

People often said that a mother's choices determined her child's future, and she thought it was the truth.

She had endured hardship in Holden Residence, but Marcus lived a privileged life. She felt that it had all been worth it.

"We should head back to the hotel, pack our things, and then go to the airport."

"Alright."

As discussed, they returned to the hotel, packed their luggage, and then set off for the airport.

Natalie didn't arrange for the Walker

ve

family's helicopter to pick them up, and Marcus didn't use his private jet either Instead, they took a commercial flight, allowing Laura to slowly re-experience the world.

At 7:00 pm, Marcus brought Laura back to Holden Residence.

Meanwhile, Lincoln picked up Natalie and took her home from the airport. They

had agreed to rest at their respective houses tonight and meet again in the

morning.

Before parting, Natalie looked at

Marcus, who remained silent. She was still worried about him. But before she could say anything, Marcus pulled her into an embrace and whispered into her ear, "Nat, don't worry about me. It might take some time, but I will find a way to get through this.

"Nat, for my mother, for myself, and for you-I will get better. Believe in me,

okay?"

She could only nod after hearing his words despite being uneasy. "Alright, but don't make me wait too long. I have to take responsibility for you."

"I know," he said.

They hugged for a while before she finally let go. "Tke Laura home. I'm heading

back with Lincoln."

"Alright."

With that, they waved goodbye.
