Chapter 72
When I woke up, I was completely naked in a hotel room. The disheveled room, the contraceptives in the trash can, and the blood on the white sheets all told me what had happened the night before.
I broke down on the spot and immediately called the police, but when I went to the hospital for an examination, I was told that all the evidence had been washed away from my body.
I went to Kaylee, hoping she would testify for me, but she claimed to know nothing.
I was in despair and helpless.
Then the rumors started spreading around the school. I was painted as someone who didn't respect herself, going to a bar for a one-night stand and being abandoned like a slut. "Don't be fooled by Amina's pure and aloof appearance. She's actually this dirty behind the scenes."
"She went to the bar looking for thrills, got used and discarded, and still had the nerve to report it to the police. She has no shame."
"I can't believe I have to share a dorm with someone like her.
Who knows if she has some kind of disease, I don't want to catch it."
The slanderous words came from my dorm room. I pushed the door open, only to find my bed and wardrobe covered in toilet trash and used sanitary pads, the stench overwhelming. "How could you do this to me? I was the victim!" I screamed, tears streaming down my face.
Kaylee stood across from me, hands on her hips, with two other girls beside her.
"Amina, you didn't respect yourself. You went out to have a one-night stand and got abandoned. What gives you the right to yell at us?" she said.
I stared at Kaylee in disbelief.
"Other people might not know what happened, but don't you?!" I demanded.
Kaylee's gaze faltered.
"I just went with you to the bar, I didn't know you were looking for a guy. I left early that day, I have no idea what happened after that," she said, avoiding my eyes.
I lunged at her, but the other two roommates pinned me down and dragged me out of the dorm.
The hallway was crowded with people watching, each person wearing a different expression, but none of them showing sympathy.noveldrama
I went to the teacher, only to be yelled at.
"You've already embarrassed the school. Why would anyone want to violate you? You were the one who didn't respect yourself, wearing a short skirt and going to a bar late at night. Isn't that just telling people you're available?"
I couldn't believe what I was hearing from a teacher, someone who was supposed to set an example.
After being forced to drop out, I sank into severe depression. I stayed in my room every day, afraid to go outside or face anyone.
I went to the lake, and just as I was about to jump off the bridge to end my life, Easton appeared like a beam of light, diving into the lake and swimming toward me.
After that, I tried to take my life several more times, but Easton always saved me at the critical moment.
He would always hold me tightly in his arms, looking at me with unwavering determination.
"It's not your fault. I will protect you forever."
I fell in love with the light that saved me.
Under his healing presence, I gradually emerged from the darkness.
I once thought that meeting Easton was the luck I earned from saving the world in my past life.
After we got married, I often felt guilty toward Easton, thinking that I was the one dragging him down, making him the target of outside criticism, even making it difficult for him to hold his head high in front of his family and friends.
