Chapter 43: Turning up

Seeing she wasn't going to get anywhere with her questions, Alexandra slightly pushes him out of her path and continues walking, Nathaniel chases after her.

"Hey girl, where are you suddenly running off to?"

Hearing those words, Alexandra halts and turns to him, breathing out, trying to calm her nerves.

"I'm a woman, not a girl"

"Woman, girl, what's the difference but anyway where are you running off to when

I came over to spend time with you"

"Spend time with me, you must be out of your mind"

"Hey that's harsh"

"Is it? Maybe you deserve it or worse. I don't still get why you come to this pack, where you have no business here"

"What do you mean I have no business here?" Nathaniel frowns

"Don't act like you don't know"

"I don't" He smiles

"Well I'm in no mood to enlighten you" she attempts to walk away when he grabs her handbag.

"Hey give it back"

"Not yet" Nathaniel hangs her bag across his shoulder "Now we talk"

"What do you want to talk about? There is nothing left for us to talk about Mr.

Starkov so hand over my bag and I will be on my way"

"I'm sorry my lady but I can't do any of such"

Alexandra groans, running her hand through her hair. "What's your problem? I don't get what you want"

"What I want is you"

"You must be out of your mind"

"Only when it comes to you"

"What do you want Nathaniel?"

"So now we are back to Nathaniel"

"I mean... Mr. Starkov"

"I like when you say both of my names"

She rolls her eyes. "Why are you back? Why did you come here? Weren't you the one who said you regretted our agreement to get married so what in the world are you doing here?"

Glancing around, Nathaniel couldn't give her the answers she wanted to hear. Although he regretted what he had said Alexandra didn't need to know all that and he wasn't going to tell her either.

"Why did you come over? Is it boredom? Are you looking for more words to say to me? Did you come here to defend Olivia once again or maybe you came to tell me how a horrible person I am and Olivia is the best woman you've ever met"

"Don't say that"

"Then what do you want me to say? Jump up in excitement as if I have won the lottery. That's a fallacy and I don't live my life based on them. I live based on philosophy?"

"What then is your philosophy?"

"Kill or be killed"

"You don't look like that type of girl"

"I'm not a girl!" She states aloud "How many times do I have to tell you that?"

Nathaniel laughs. "Why do you hate being addressed as a girl?"

"How would you feel if I address you as a boy? Is belittling"

"Really? I don't see it like that"

"You don't see what normal people see"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"What did you say you came for again?"

"I didn't say anything but now that you mentioned it, I came to take you to my pack"

"What makes you think I will go with you anywhere"

"Who else will you go with I'm your mate"

"That you choose to regret our agreement, what more could we have to do with each other?"

"A lot. You will see"

Biting her lower lips, Alexandra frowns, pretending to be angry. "I'm not going to your pack"

"Why?" Nathaniel's eyes widened

"Because I'm angry"

Alexandra scoffs. "Isn't it obvious? First is you then I got attacked by Mobs and then you of all persons had to show up"

Nathaniel raises his brow, slightly confused. "So which of these made you angry"

"Are you being serious right now? Anyway, forget it, I'm not going to your pack and that's it"

"So when will you go?"

"You've got to be kidding me now. Hand over my bag and I will be on my way"

"No"

"Why? Why?"

Nathaniel chuckled. "Because I want to spend more time with you"

"I was heading to the house before those mobs came at me"

"I know"

"You saw it?"

"No I meant I guessed it but I know that deep down, you don't want to go back home"

"I don't know what you are talking about"

"Would you rather go home and sit by the window staring at the moonlight all day or would you rather spend the day with me beside your parents are not in town"

"Really? How do you know that"

"Well, I have my ways. I know you've missed me and want to spend time with me"

"Keep wishing. The only thing I have missed is absolutely nothing I was living my life until you showed up"

"Looking irresistible and not to mention, save you from those mobs"

"Should I thank you?" She states sarcastically

"Shouldn't you?"

"Not until you apologize for what you did to me then maybe I will thank you"

"Maybe?"

"Yes, I have placed it under probability and so until you then, I will decide if you deserve my thanks. It doesn't come off cheap"

Without uttering another word, Nathaniel holds her hand and drags her towards

his car, he opens the door and puts her in, closing the door and jumping inside, he locks the door causing Alexandra's eyes to widen.

"Hey what are you doing?"

"Getting away"

"Getting away?"

"I want to spend the day with you"

"Hey let me out" Alexandra strives to open the door but couldn't

"Let me out, this is kidnapping"

Nathaniel chuckled. "A werewolf getting kidnapped in broad daylight is a little exaggerated"

"You kidnapped me"

"Since when do mates kidnap their own?"

"Are we mates? Didn't you regret our marriage agreement?"

"Yes we are and if you want I can prove it"

"How can you?"

"For starters, I can kiss you, and then you can listen as our wolf howls to each

other

Hearing those words, a sad feeling engulfs Alexandra as she remembers her wolf, how she was left in a wolfless state to fight and would have lost if Nathaniel hadn't jumped right in time to save her from those mobs. Although Alexandra was aware that Nathaniel deserved her thanks, her ego wouldn't let her say those words to her since she was still a bit angry with him.

"Would you rather I kiss you, Alexandra?"

Haven't you heard, don't talk while driving"

"Haven't you heard that is awkward to be silent between two people who are mates? They need to know things about each other"

"You have the answer to all questions" she drops her gaze, averting her eyes towards the window, staring at the cars as they drive past. "By the way, where did you get this car?"

"Why are you asking? Are you scared?"

Alexandra scoffs. "Why should I be?"

"You are sitting with half part of your butt"

Alexandra laughs, ashamed.

"Why are you laughing? Is it that funny?"

"I can't believe a man like you is the Alpha"

Taking a glance at her, Nathaniel knew she was talking about his personality.

"Don't get used to it"

"Why?"

"You will get hurt"

"I'm already hurt knowing that I get to spend my day with you. What could be

worse"

"Staying locked up in your room or stuck in the house"

"Who stays locked up? Are you watching a horror movie recently?" She laughs.

"Is it funny?" He accelerates his speed

"Not really but when it comes to you, I can't hold myself"

"Why is that? Are you falling for me?"

believe in female subjection"

Nathaniel smirks. "Well everything about me is special, look into my eyes and tell

me you wouldn't get swoon"

"You overrate yourself"

"I don't, people do that, when I walk past the street, heads turn" Alexandra burst into laughter, she wouldn't believe he would dare say that. Deep

down, she knew he was handsome and was probably the lady's man in his teenage age but Alexandra wasn't one of those women who would easily get swooned over by men, at least not anymore. If anything, Adams's betrayal had taught her a lot and although she is aware that Nathaniel was different, she wasn't going to fall in love with him overnight, at least that was what she was certain

about.

"Heads turn for what?"

"For me, they try to get my attention"

"My head didn't turn"

"That's because you don't have a head"

"That was rude but anyway good luck to you" she states, doubting

"Wait, you don't believe you"

"I didn't say that"

"I can read your eyes, those pretty eyes of yours say otherwise"

"Flattering. don't flatter me Mr. Starkov"

"You are unbelievable, now we are back to being formal"

"You started it"

Pulling over by the roadside, he abruptly hits the break.

"How did I start this?"

"Who said I didn't have a head?"

"You're mad about that. That was meant to be a joke"

"A bad one which involved raining insults on my poor head, you should be

ashamed of yourself"

Nathaniel laughs unbelievably, kicking off the engine, he speeds into the road.

"By the way, where are we going? You've been driving for hours"

"Don't question me girl"

"I beg your pardon"

"Just lean back and sleep, I will wake you up when we reach" He smiles sinisterly

creeping Alexandra out.

Feeling sudden chills crawls up her body. Alexandra swallows the lump in her

throat.

"Where are we going? Did you kidnap me?"

"You would have been in ropes or cuff don't you think?"

"Then are you going to hurt me"

"Alexandra you are being ridiculous. Maybe too much television Is getting to your

head"

"You gave me a sinister smile"

"I did no such things, you must be seeing things" he turns on the radio and an old

school hip hop jam starts to play.

"Just lean back and enjoy the music, I will wake you when we reach"

"First I can't enjoy this terrible music and second I bet you will gawk at me so I will pass"

"What's wrong with me gawking at you?"

"Everything" she whispers, Leaning against the chair and closing her eyes,

Nathaniel smiles.
