“She’s carrying my pup.” Cas sounds almost dreamy so I nod my head at him as I help Heath out of the
silver cage, I knew it the second I smelled her. It’s really faint so I doubt even in his wolf form that
Francis could smell it.
“We need to get her out of here.” Heath drapes an arm around my neck and I hold him up right with an
arm around his waist, “Alpha, you hear me?” Cas is just sitting on the floor with Eva’s white wolf
rubbing all over him, he seems lost in her, I don’t think he’s even registered that Francis hasn’t gotten
up from the floor yet.
“Everything alright down there?” Fraction shouts down the stairs a split second before he rounds onto
the doorway. My eyes go wide as Eric and Fraction come into the basement. Fraction stops at the door
instantly but Eric must not be able to smell it because he just keeps walking in.
“How’s the little Omega doing?” Eric stops a few inches from Cas as he starts to growl loudly, pushing
Heath, I rush him to the door and thrust him at Fraction’s naked body.
“Back away Eric, now.” I speak softly as I approach the two Alpha’s one wrong move and this could end
very badly. Alpha’s are crazy protective of their pregnant mates, add in that Eva is an Omega and it just
makes that protectiveness skyrocket.
“What’s wrong with him? I’m just checking on Eva.” Eric looks back at me. he seems genuinely
confused, almost like he can’t taste the tension

in the air.
Cas takes ace of Eric’s guard being down, he pushes Ghost off him and dives for Eric’s back. He
changes into Storm mid way, I
manage to jump backwards just as Eric goes flying forward, he lets out a loud curse as he slams into
the concrete floor. Using his arms he manages to keep Storm slate grey muzzle from making contact
with his neck.
“Cas stop, he didn’t know.” I shout trying to get my Alpha to listen to reason but it seems he’s
completely lost it. Storm keeps snarling as Eric keeps trying to push him off, he might be a strong Alpha
but Storm and Cas are lost in protecting their mate right now, so they have strength they wouldn’t
normally have.
“Get him off me.” Eric’s arms start to shake as starts to push Storm’s jaw away from him, “do
something.” Eric doesn’t sound panicked, he sounds more like he wants us to stop this before one of
them does something they will regret. I look over towards Eva but see Ghost is very much still with us,
she’s just casually laying on the floor and grooming herself.
“Fraction,” I spin around to see the doorway is clear, Fraction must have taken Heath upstairs to be
seen too. “Da mn it.” Flattening myself against the wall I shuffle past Storm and Eric, I keep going until
I’m sitting in front of Ghost. “Hey beautiful, how you doing?” I speak loudly hoping Cas or even Storm
will hear me. “We missed your pretty face around the Pack, days always seem prettier when you’re
smiling at everyone.” I feel something pulling on me but nothing is touching me, all I can hear is Storm
growling while trying to get to Eric and Eric grunting to keep Storm off of him.
‘Back off my mate!’ Cas’s voice is almost unrecognisable as my Alpha, he’s all snarls and a viciousness
I’ve never heard from him.

“Eva, Ghost, I need you to work with me here. Cas is going to kill Eric just for being near you, help him
see you’re alright.” I plead with Ghost as I feel Cas’s Alpha aura pulse out.
“F uck!” Eric curses and manages to throw Storm off of him just as the scent of coppery blood fills the
air. Ghost lifts her head and starts to sniff, it seems something has finally gotten this female’s attention.
Ghost gets to her feet just as Storm spins back on Eric and lowers himself, he’s getting ready to lunge
at him again. Feeling the panic rise up within me I turn back to Ghost, I’m about to press upon her how
devastating this will be for Cas and the Pack if he kills another Alpha. However, she’s already gotten
herself up off the floor and is slowly padding towards Cas and Eric. Her soft tail is low and her ears are
floppy and against her head, she’s in a state of submission, I wanted her to help me pull Cas out
ost, no!” I not put herself in danger.
“Ghost, no!” I hiss after her but she just creeps forward, her soft yellow eyes on Storm as she lays
down between the two and rolls over to show her soft stomach. It’s the most trusting thing you can do
to another shifter, one swipe of Storm’s claws and she’s dead, she’s trusting him to come back to
himself.
“Move her, Rowan.” Eric growls but I ignore him and watch my Alpha and Luna instead. I’m not sure
what they are saying to each other but they are clearly having a conversation, their eyes are connected
and Storm’s head keeps tilting from side to side.
“Back down Eric, you f ucked up. Own it.” I slam Eric with a look of total disbelief, this man is more
Alpha than me and yet I could smell the pup on Eva before I even entered the room.
“What the hell did I do? I just wanted to check on her, make sure she was alright.” Eric throws his
hands up in the air and makes an exasperated sound, “I don’t think I was out of bounds considering I’m

here risking my neck for her and your Head Warrior.” Slowly, careful not to disturb the two wolves
currently having a silent conversation I walk over to Eric, reaching up I slap him upside the head. He
quickly turns on me, flashing his yellow eyes.
“She’s carrying his pup you idiot.” I say between clenched teeth, I see the realisation of his actions
cross his face.
“D amn it,” he holds his hands up as Storm’s eyes flash over to him. “I didn’t know Alpha Cas, I swear.”
In a display I never thought I would see from an Alpha, Eric drops to his knees and lowers his head to
the floor until the back of his neck is displayed to the couple of wolves.
“Get up you idiot.” I sigh a relief as Storm turns into Cas in the blink of an eye, I shake out my arms as
the tension running through my body finally starts to ease off. Eric gets off the floor and quickly heads
for the door of the basement, clearly wanting to put some distance between him and Cas.
“You good?” I ask Cas, he’s not listening though, instead he walks over to the mangled corpse of his
mother. Laid forgotten in the corner she looks like she was mauled by a wild beast, her throat has been
ripped out and whatever attacked her kept going until the job was well more
than done.
“Eva did it.” Cas casts sad eyes over to the white wolf now curled into a ball on the floor, “she pulled
her from the cage and was going to hurt the pup, Ghost took over and this was the result.” I can’t tell if
Cas is upset about his mother or worried about his mate, Eva is clearly stuck within Ghost and I’m
assuming it’s got something to do with this bl oody mess in front of us.
“What do you want me to do?” I ask softly as he continues to stare at his mother’s remains.

“Leave her here, she wanted to be with them then she can stay with them.” Cas jumps up from the floor
and walks over to Ghost, he picks her up holding her in his arms as if she weighs nothing. “I need to
get Eva back to Selena, you good to clean up here and find out what we got and what we did not?” I
nod my head at Cas as he goes to head out of the door.
“He wasn’t here.” Cas’s shoulders slump, “we didn’t lose anyone but he wasn’t here so this is only a
part win.”
“Then we find him and when we do, I’ll rip him apart myself.” Cas walks out of the basement stepping
over the rogue I took down and heading up the stairs. Spinning in a slow circle I try to decide where I
should start in cleaning up the mess the rogues have left us and where to start looking for Jeremy.
