The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback

Chapter 32

Chapter 32:

? ? ? ? ?

Joshua made a surprise proposal.

This shocking announcement hit the news, and netizens, who had been targeting Lilliana, soon redirected their attention. They began digging into Joshua's past, looking for any trace of his relationship history, and eventually discovered that he had been married and divorced.

A lot of hidden information came to light. In essence, Lilliana's scandal took a backseat. Joshua bore the brunt of the online backlash for her.

Caden's gaze shifted to the screen. He let out a slight scoff.

"What a touching love story," she commented.

Alicia stared at the screen, almost enthralled by the unfolding events. The screen soon changed to a video. It showed Joshua's heartfelt confession. It told how he and Lilliana met and fell in love.

Joshua then showed off a dazzling diamond ring and gently placed it on Lilliana's finger. The camera's zoom lens captured the moment clearly.

Alice's eyes filled with tears and her breathing became labored.

Caden turned to look at her, his indifferent gaze taking in her fragile expression.

Alicia lowered her eyes, trying to mask her emotions. “It's just a proposal. What's so touching about it? Honestly, I find it a bit cliché. That diamond ring seems like a rip-off. It’s super expensive but it’s really not worth it.”

Caden’s expression remained void of any emotion. He replied nonchalantly, “That brand of diamond ring is priceless.”

Alice's eyes reddened even more, and she laughed bitterly. "I guessed right. Joshua has lost a fortune."

Caden scoffed at his words.

"It's not really a loss," he said. "At least when he married you, he didn't spend a cent."

Alicia remained silent at his comment.

“Oh wait, he did spend a little bit,” Caden added slowly. “He bought you a silver ring for a few dollars.”

The room became eerily quiet, amplifying Alice's distress as she processed everything that was happening around her.

Alice poured herself a glass of wine, trying to appear calm as she asked, “Would you like a drink?”

Caden remained silent, showing no interest in his offer. Alicia did not expect his response and brought the glass to her lips.

I knew she was slightly allergic to alcohol and tended to get drunk quickly, so she was rarely indulged. Today, the wine was especially strong.

As he drank it, it stuck in his throat and he coughed immediately. His face flushed and his eyes filled with tears, although they did not fail.

Caden's expression darkened. He looked at her with a hint of disdain. “If you want to die so badly, why don't you just drink it all at once?” he said.

Alice preferred not to respond to his mockery.

After catching her breath, she realized she needed to slow down, so she began sipping the wine slowly, taking generous gulps.

Caden watched her as she drank the wine as if it were water.

After three drinks, the signs of Alicia's allergic reaction became evident. Small red spots appeared on her neck, revealing the distress her body was suffering.

Caden frowned and squeezed his hand firmly as he reached for another glass.

Alice slowly raised her head, looking at him through her drunkenness.

"What the hell are you doing?" I have asked.

“Stop drinking!” I insisted.

Alice weakly tried to free her hand, but could not match his strength.

“Let me go, Caden!” she snapped, her voice thick with frustration.

Caden replied, "If you want to drink yourself to death, do it somewhere else. Dying here would only make me a suspect."

Alice narrowed her eyes and looked at her hand as if she was thinking about her next move.

Caden sensed an easy tension in the air.

Before he could back out, Alice suddenly opened her mouth and bit her hand hard.

It was clear that he was releasing his pent-up frustration with that fierce action.

Even someone as patient as Caden couldn't help but shudder slightly. “You really do act like a dog, biting everything that comes close.”

Despite his comment, he kept his hand right where it was.

Alicia continued to bite until her jaw began to hurt, finally releasing her grip. She stared blankly at Caden's bleeding hand, and unexpectedly, tears ran down her cheeks.

With a clumsy but gentle movement, she leaned forward and licked the blood from her hand. Holding back her emotions, she murmured, “I’m so sorry.” Her soft tongue brushed against the wound, causing an unbearable sting that made him shudder.

Caden frowned and quickly drew his hand.

Alice slumped onto the table, feeling defeated. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

Outside, fireworks were exploding in the night sky. Purple bursts lit up the darkness, casting a glow across Alice's pale face.

Alicia had once told Joshua that purple fireworks were her favorite. But Joshua had never bothered to light them for her. Everything she had hoped for, everything he had owed her, was now freely given to someone else.

Caden never imagined he would find himself in a situation like this.

With Gerry passed out and Alicia having an allergic reaction, Caden knew he had a challenge on his hands.

He ordered someone to take Gerry away. When he turned around, he saw Alice sweating profusely. She retched repeatedly but couldn't get anything out, groping around on the table in a daze.

Caden approached her and asked, “What are you looking for?”

"I'm looking for tissues," she murmured.

Alice looked at him before leaning weakly against his chest, wiping her mouth on his shirt.

Caden was speechless. I have regretted coming back.

Noticing the red rashes covering her exposed skin, he realized that her allergy was severe. He hesitated for a moment, but then decided to lift her up.

Just as Caden was carrying Alicia, Hank arrived after parking the car and witnessed the scene unfold.

Hank was puzzled. He was fully aware of Caden's aversion to women. He politely offered, "Mr. Ward, let me take care of this."

Caden replied in a level tone, “No need. “Just drive up to the entrance.”

Hank replied, “Yes, sir.” However, he secretly took out his phone, preparing to take a photo. Just as he was about to capture the moment, Caden gave him a stern look.

Hank quickly raised his phone, pretending to check his hair in the reflection. “I wasn't taking pictures of you two. “I was just making sure my hair wasn’t messy.”
