Chapter 56 A Car Accident
Chapter 56 A Car Accident
When their half bottle of wine was consumed half-way through, Mia was flashed with alcohol. The dim,
soft light flattered Liam’s good look perfectly.
Gazing at the Liam, the epitome of male beauty, Mia was filled with bitter sweetness.
It was her triumph to have this man recognizing her as his real girlfriend though his heart had been
stolen by someone else.
Ah, maybe she had never managed to nail his heart.
The time had come—she could not afford any delay.
“Liam, would you mind bringing here our desert, the ice-cream I made from the refrigerator?”
Mia begged sweetly, unable to pluck up the courage to look into his eyes.
“Sure.” Liam nodded and rose up.
When he heading into the kitchen, Mia trotted to the greenery beside the dinner table and fished out a
little box that contained two pink pills.
She gave a deep sigh of relief when one of them sank into Liam’s cup and dissolved.
“Why are you sighing?” Liam’s voice startled her into a shudder, lips paled.
She struggled to pull a grin: “No, I didn’t. You must have misheard!”

Mia urged him attentively: “Liam, have a taste! I made it myself”.
Liam smiled and shook his head: “You know sweets are not my thing.”
“Come on! Have a bite, please. It is my handmade masterpiece!” Mia scooped the ice cream with a
little silver spoon and sent it right beside his mouth.
Glancing at her, Liam opened his mouth reluctantly.
“Then have a sip of this wine—a perfect accompaniment!” Mia offered a cup of wine. That was odd.
Mia was always too restrained to show her desire. Why so passionate today?
Wondering at the change of Mia, Liam drained his cup of wine.
With a little bit of guilt, he knew how much she was onto him. She spent her prime years on loving him.
He would try his best to please her without touching the bottom line.
Mia settled her agitated mind when Liam finally finished his wine. God knew how much she had been
longing for this man, his body, his touch and the reassuring feeling of having him inside of her.
She wanted to prove that he was still hers. Nothing could set them apart.
Shaking her cup, Mia drained the wine in one gulp.
What a perfect moment—siting with her love, enjoying the delicious ice cream, listening to the beautiful
music. Everything was set in place.
The cell phone on the table rang up.
“Hi…”
“Mia, where are you? Jack had a car accident! Hospitalized!” The anxiety of Mrs. Cavendish, Nora
White, buzzed through the line, frightened Mia off the seat. “Mum! How is he going? Is he badly hurt?”
Mrs. Cavendish was sobbing: “He was sent to first aid room. Your dad was caught in a business trip!
Come here quickly!”
“Mum! Don’t worry. I will go for you at once.” Mia hung up the phone and rush outside. “Jack had a car
accident! I am going to the hospital.”
“I am going with you.” Liam rose up and hit by a dizziness.
“Wait a second. I have to change my cloth. Oh, Liam—Are you okay?”
Liam shook his head: “I am fine. A little bit dizziness. Let’s go.”
Holy shit! What have I done—Mia changed her mind and stopped Liam. “You had better stay home and
let me go myself. Jack do not get along well with you. I am afraid your visit might upset him.”
On her 23th birthday, Mia was waiting for Liam to take her for a movie he promised in her best princess
dress, against the icy breeze for a whole night. However, he failed his words only because he worked
extra hours and forgot about it.
Ever since, Jack had never given Liam an easy look. On the contrary, he tried hard to persuade his
elder sister to leave this man countless times. To his disappointment, Mia’s determination proved his
efforts in vain: “I love Liam and I pay out for him self-willingly.”
God! Please save this love-struck, silly woman!
Jack was always regarding Liam with hostility. As a man, he knew too well that Liam did not love Mia at
all.
Liam hesitated and nodded. “I will send a driver for you. Keep me abreast of Jack’s conditions.”
Mia took a breath of relief: “Have a bath and go to bed early.”
It was nothing but aphrodisiac—Mia thought. For now, nothing was more important than her younger
brother.
Right upon Mia’s leaving, Amber called in.
“Mr. Currie, I accept all the conditions on the agreement. Please keep your promise on the surgery for
Pearl.”
Amber’s clipped and cold tone left Liam torn and frustrated.
It felt so frustrating and embarrassing to conquer a woman like this.
Liam said nothing.
Misunderstanding the silence, Amber raised her voice: “I am moving back tonight. Hold the door for me
if you are home.”
Then she hung up the call anyway.
Liam smiled wryly at the busy tone. Was that what he wanted—forcing her to move back and live under
his scrutiny every day?
He should have taken other road: divorcing with Amber and marrying Mia in a high key after the
reorganization.
Only by binding the Cavendish, could he accomplish his financial empire.
What made him deviate from his original plan? How did he face Amber?
