Chapter 176
Chapter 176
Anastasia sat on the bench in the corridor of the hospital and waited for the police to come.
Jason asked someone to get him an ice pack. Jason carefully applied it to Anastasia’s face.
Alastor looked gloomy. Alastor didn’t want Jason to touch Anastasia, but he knew he was at fault for hitting her.
“Are you Anastasia? Please come with us to help with the investigation.” The police came and asked Anastasia to follow them.
“What did the person who called the police say?” Jason asked in a deep voice.
“Anastasia is suspected of voluntarily causing hurt and pushing someone down the stairs,” the policeman repeated.
“I have evidence to prove that Felicia fell down the stairs by herself.” Jason handed the phone to the police.
It contained footage from surveillance cameras that his people had gotten.
“Does Felicia think she carried out her plan flawlessly, and there are no surveillance cameras in that place? But coincidentally, the surveillance cameras in the nurses’ station and corridor can clearly capture the location of stairs,” Jason said coldly.
Alastor’s breathing stagnated. It was not that he didn’t think of the surveillance cameras.
That was not the point. The point was that he instinctively chose not to believe Anastasia.
So he thought that Anastasia really pushed Felicia, fearing that surveillance cameras would be damning evidence against Anastasia.
The policeman took the phone and looked at it. Then he said to his colleagues around him, “Let’s go look at the surveillance
cameras.”
Seeing that the police didn’t take Anastasia away, Alastor already knew.
“Sir, is it against the law to make a false police report and slander someone?” Anastasia asked in a hoarse voice.
The police looked back at Anastasia. “If that is true, we will mete out punishments accordingly.”
“Thank you…” Seeing the police leave, Anastasia took Jason’s phone. “Where did you find it?”
“When I came to see you, I asked my friends in the hospital to check the scene first. Then, they checked the surveillance cameras from different angles. Fortunately, the scene can be seen clearly from every angle.” Jason sighed with relief.
If there were no surveillance cameras, Anastasia would be in danger today.
“Okay.” Anastasia nodded calmly and looked back at Alastor. “Do you want to see it?”
Alastor’s entire body went stiff as he took the phone.
The surveillance cameras clearly showed that it was Felicia who deliberately fell down the stairs, while Anastasia reached out her hand long after she fell to try and catch her.
But it was too late.
“From beginning to end, Anastasia’s hands have only touched clothing. Anastasia never pushed Felicia,” Jason said with a frown.
Alastor stood there and watched the surveillance camera footage for a long time. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
He just didn’t know how to face the truth.
He still didn’t trust Anastasia subconsciously.
So when he saw Felicia at the bottom of the stairs covered in blood, he subconsciously felt that Anastasia was taking revenge. She had pushed Felicia down the stairs just like she did to Sienna when she was a
child.
“Now, can we do the DNA paternity test?” Anastasia asked in a low voice.
Alastor looked up at Anastasia with his eyes trembling. “Anastasia… I—”
“just want a result.” Anastasia’s voice was hoarse.
Anastasia’s mental journey changed a lot ever since she found out that Alastor had cheated on her.
From not wanting to divorce at the beginning to make sure she would disgrace Felicia no matter what, to disappointment and compromise later, and finally to insisting on a result.
Anastasia initially thought that everything would be fine as long as Felicia behaved herself and stopped harassing her, and she divorced Alastor.
After all, she was pregnant with Alastor’s child.
However, Felicia was exactly like Sienna in the past. Felicia tested her patience again and again.
This time, she even suddenly appeared to frame her.
Therefore, she needed to know the result.
“Anastasia… Can you come home with me first?” Alastor’s voice was hoarse as he pleaded with her.
He was scared!
He was indeed scared.
He was afraid that the result would be exactly what Anastasia had thought, that this was all part of Felicia’s plan.
Felicia succeeded in driving Anastasia further away from him.
