Chapter 1308
When Chester noticed everyone suddenly fell silent, he realized he had said something wrong.
"What do you mean? How could the baby look like you?" Sean laughed and lightly teased him, "Chet, you're being silly."
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Chester scratched his head and replied, "Sorry, I don't know much about these things."
"It's okay. But it's getting late, we should go." Pearl stood up, and Richard did the same.
But Chester didn't want to say goodbye to Pearl just yet. He grabbed her arm, hoping she would stay a little longer. "Miss Pearl, could you stay a bit longer with me?" he asked, his voice filled with hope.
Pearl patted his hair gently, sensing his feelings, "Silly boy, I can't stay. But I'll come visit you again, okay?" Reluctantly, Chester let her go.
Ten days later, Sean and Chester boarded a plane to go overseas.
Meanwhile, Pearl had to prioritize her health and pregnancy. She left the management of her company to Blake.
Blake was overwhelmed by the responsibility. "Why do you want me to handle this?" he exclaimed.
Normally, Wayne, Pearl's capable assistant, would have taken over, but he was on leave because his wife was expecting and needed his support.
"I wouldn't ask if I had another choice, Blake, Wayne's wife needs him right now, and he's taking time off," Pearl explained.
Blake sighed, half-jokingly, "You're taking advantage of me because I'm reliable. I should've gotten married and gotten pregnant."ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Pearl couldn't help but tease him, "Really, Blake? Can you get pregnant too?"
Frustrated, Blake clarified, "I didn't mean me!"
"Alright, let's not worry about the details. You're free, so I need you at the company at eight tomorrow morning," Pearl concluded before ending the call.
Feeling resigned but understanding Pearl's condition, Blake agreed.
The new medicine Pearl had developed was effective. Within a week, Rosalie and her aunt were feeling better and Rosalie was eager to return to work
Despite Blake's attempts to convince her to rest more at home, Rosalie insisted on going back to work, so he accompanied her to the office.
As life in Enswood returned to normal, the epidemic that had caused so much trouble faded away. All seemed to be getting back on track.
