In this era of technology, nothing was hideable anymore! Privacy was basically nonexistent, and everyone could somehow find out where you were and what you were doing.

Waverly hadn't been paying much attention to the news due to her father and brother's arrival. When she was waiting for Wyatt, she scrolled through her phone to catch up on the news, only to realize that she had made the headlines again.

Her reputation had suffered greatly after her marriage to Franklin Wright. He was the one who had betrayed her, but she insisted on protecting his reputation, which cost hers. She kept telling herself "what happens in the dark will always come to light". Despite that, the ending was fixed and she could do nothing about it. Now, she was basically immune to it! Just let them slander her. As if she cared.

Therefore, she didn't really feel anything as she scrolled through those nasty rumors about her. However, Wyatt's attitude toward the matter caught her attention. It made her heart skip a beat.

"It's not extravagant as long as she's my woman." Master Johnson really knew how to protect his love, huh?

That dummy was kinda reliable, wasn't he?

The news was very detailed to the extent where there were even videos. Waverly played one of them but without sound, just with the subtitles. He was gallant and he answered all their questions directly. He was, indeed, an assertive and domineering man.

The reporters asked him about their relationship. "She's my woman." That sentence alone was enough to confirm their relationship.

The reporters asked if he cared about the negative rumors surrounding her. "If I did, I'd probably try to dissociate myself from her. Yet here I am."

The reporters talked about her lavishness, her unloyalty, and her greed. "I'm rich, I'm willing to feed her. So what?"

His answers were short but savage. Waverly regretted not being on the scene that day!

She really wanted to spit on that paparazzi, whoever they were. They didn't even stop a second to figure out who they were before blockading them! Those were her frigging father and brother! So what if she kissed them?

She should've just sued them for slander. She really ought to just sue them until they bankrupt! Then, next time they think about doing something similar, they would actually think before they leap.

There were already enough rumors and gossip encircling her on the internet. Was it necessary for them to create more? Do they want her dead or something? Did they really have to trample on her poor reputation like that?

Waverly observed the image of Wyatt on her phone. He seemed indifferent, but she could see the hint of displeasure on his face. His eyes swept the crowd and Waverly couldn't help but bite her lips.

Hopefully, he had settled those annoying people!

However, she was old news. Why on Earth would someone just decide to pull her back up into the sunlight? Was it because of her relationship with Wyatt?

Besides, the news was really a little too vague and sh*tty. They didn't even confirm her father's and brother's identities. It was really a bit unprofessional! Waverly felt that something was amiss, but she couldn't really grasp what.

Before she could figure anything out, though, a man came into sight. She quickly closed her apps and pushed her phone aside.

When Wyatt sat down, her head hung low as her gaze occasionally glanced his way.

"What?"

She was so fierce just now. He just went to the washroom, and now she was a different person. Wyatt was puzzled and he noticed that half of the bird's nest porridge had disappeared.

That night, although they had

Wyatt rose to his feet as Waverly said hurriedly, "Uh...I'll treat you this time!" She regretted ordering so much! She knew how wasteful she was. If she had planned on paying for the meal, she would have definitely thought twice before ordering them!

He teased her before picking up her coat from the chair. Afterward, he put it on her like the gentleman he was, "I've already paid for the meal!"

"Why do you keep calling me 'little widow'? Did some widow offend you? You don't have to look down on us like this, you know," Waverly rolled her eyes, but her tone was evidently softer.

Wyatt held her handbag in one hand while he held her in his other. He couldn't help but let out another burst of laughter.

Wyatt's grin stayed on his face as they left the place.

Waverly pinched him as they got into the elevator.

"Why are you smiling like that? What's so funny? Is something wrong with being a widow? You're acting like you've never seen a widow before! And why'd you keep adding 'little' to 'widow'?"
