Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 156

After visiting their parents' graves, Janice and Jacob returned to Greenfield City. It was already 3:30 pm.

"I'm heading out for a bit. You go home first." Janice told Jacob.

Simon's behavior today had completely crossed the line.noveldrama

Jacob was worried, seeing how cold and resolute Janice looked.

So, he discreetly called Harrison and asked him to keep an eye on her, just to make sure she wasn't being taken advantage of.

...

Outside Refined Threads Co.'s underground parking lot, Janice intercepted the company's current crochet supervisor, Maggie Cooper.

"Ms. Smith, what an honor. You came all this way looking for me?" Maggie faltered slightly under Janice's emotionless gaze. Wasn't she supposed to be approachable?

Janice didn't bother with pleasantries. "Simon no longer has the money to pay your salaries."

Maggie's brows furrowed together. There was no reason for her to give in to a competitor. After all, she was an employee of Refined Threads Co.

"That's a company issue," she replied stiffly.

"I heard you live quite far from Greenfield City. You're out here working for one thing, money. Even if Simon manages to scrape together some funds, what about the future? He has already mortgaged his house. Aren't you worried that the company might go bankrupt and you'll never see your wages again?"

A flicker of unease crossed Maggie's face. "What are you trying to say?" "Aren't my intentions obvious?"

Janice was seated in the driver's seat. She radiated the aura of an absolute powerhouse.

"I'm poaching your team. If you agree to bring your entire crotchet team over to me, I'll pay two months' worth of wages upfront. Of course, if you choose to stay, you'll never get paid. And if you leave Refined Threads Co. later on, I can guarantee that you won't be able to join Prosper Stitch Group or even Melody & Loops Creations."

Maggie and her team had already been rejected by Melody & Loops Creations

once.

In Greenfield City, the only two major companies that could afford to hire such a large number of seamstresses were Prosper Stitch Group and Melody & Loops Creations.

"Are you threatening me?" Maggie asked, incredulous.

Janice cast her a sideways glance. "You don't have to take it as a threat. But you will walk away empty-handed."

This...

This was a blatant and open threat!

However, Prosper Stitch Group offered high salaries.

And now, Janice was even offering to pay two months of wages in advance. For the seamstresses, who worked solely to survive, money was all that mattered. The offer was tempting...

"If we leave, we could offend our company. When that happens..."

Janice said slowly, her tone unwavering, "If I can poach you, I can protect you. I expect your answer by tomorrow."

Maggie was already on the verge of saying yes, but she still asked hesitantly, "And if we refuse?"

"Then you can go down with Simon. I'm only giving you this opportunity because we're both from the crocheting world. Whether you take it or not, it's up to you."

Maggie clenched her fists. She had been going two months without a paycheck. If any other companies were hiring, she would've left long ago. What was the point of staying if she wasn't getting paid? Hero decision was made.

"I'm in!"

Janice wasn't surprised in the slightest.

She met Maggie's gaze. "I don't want a single seamstress left in the Refined Threads Co. building. If you can guarantee that, I'll arrange a management position for you at Prosper Stitch Group."

The benefits at Prosper Stitch Group were indeed legendary!

Maggie's eyes lit up. "You have my word! I'll start reaching out now!"

Janice remained in the car as Maggie began calling her team.

After 30 minutes, she smiled triumphantly.

"I've contacted them all. But if we leave just like this, what about our unpaid wages? Do you think Refined Threads Co. will still pay us?"
