Living With My Lady Boss

Chapter 2276

The two men returned to the parking lot. Arsi took out two bottles of soda from the fridge at the mini-mart and tossed one of them at Wilbur.

Wilbur caught the soda, then took a few gulps before wiping the sweat off his forehead. "Arsi, do you know where these Night Demons came from? Do you know who created them?"

Wilbur was certain that if the root of the Night Demons was not destroyed, all it would take was just one Night Demon to show up in Diseya, and the entire country of Kosanto, and even the few neighboring countries would be in grave danger.

The only way to save Kosanto was to thoroughly destroy the Night Demons.

Despite having obtained information on the Night Demons from Beverly, this research was probably rather private, and thus even the Dashan Department of Paranormal Research and Defense did not have sufficient information on it.

That was exactly why Wilbur hoped to get some information from Arsi. Diseya was a small town by the border, and maybe the people who had escaped to Diseya from Moda might know a thing or two about the Night Demons.

Arsi wiped the sweat off his forehead and looked at Wilbur. "Mister Penn, why did you really come to Diseya? Is it really for the Night Demons?"

"I... Well, I do have my own reasons for coming here, but they do not come in the way of the Night Demons. Please don't question me like I'm a criminal under investigation, Arsi. I hope you know I'm trying to help you and your town here."

Arsi nodded. "You're right. You've helped Diseya greatly, Mister Penn. I should be grateful to you, but I never liked power dynamics, so I'll owe you a favor for now. Tell me why you came here. I might just be able to help you with it and we'd be even then."

Wilbur felt like Arsi seemed to be avoiding the question he had asked and repeated himself. "Arsi, you need to understand that the Night Demons are a terrifying existence. If we don't get rid of them, there will only be more problems that come our way."

Arsi interjected, "Enough! I respect you a lot, Mister Penn, but I'm not asking for much here. All I want is for Diseya to go back to the way it was. I want Diseya to grow more and more developed, and I don't really care about anything else. Not even the Night Demons, as long as Diseya operates like it usually does."

Wilbur grabbed Arsi by the shirt, lifting him into the air angrily. "Do you think Diseya will really go back to the way it was just because we got rid of the Night Demons here? Have you ever thought about why they appeared in the first place? If we don't address the root of what's creating these monsters, they're going to re- appear a second time for sure! Who knows how many more people in Diseya will die when that happens? Face the truth, Arsi. As long as we don't find out what is creating these Night Demons and destroy it, no one will be able to save Diseya the next time they show up."

"No... ha... Well, I tried my best." Arsi shrugged, flashing a tight smile. "I get what you're trying to do, but there's only so much I can do. I can't change anything."

"You're a coward," Wilbur scoffed.noveldrama
