Around twenty seconds passed, and Beverly responded, "I've just asked the department for you, Deacon Penn. They have approved of your request. The Night Demon is extremely dangerous, and we hope you can help Kosanto get rid of it as soon as possible."

"Got it."

Wilbur hung up and dialed Arsi's number.

"Hello, Mister Penn. Is anything the matter?"

"Arsi, can you confirm that all the Night Demons are in Diseya and not one of them has escaped?"

"That's what it looks like at the moment, at least. All the cars of Diseya are in that parking lot, and anyone going to get it would have to go through a special genetic detector. They'd be caught right away if they were a Night Demon."

Wilbur was rather intrigued after hearing his response. "So, what do you do once someone is found out to be a Night Demon?"

"We would kill them at once," Arsi said without missing a beat. "If we let them go, more people will turn into Night Demons. That's not fair for the townsfolk."

Wilbur nodded. "You're not wrong there."

Following that, he had Arsi prepare some tools. That night, Wilbur and Arsi stood under the streetlights after all the people's doors and windows had been bolted shut. Arsi was clad in steel armor from head to toe, holding an electric saw.

Arsi said, "I can only take on two Night Demons at once, Mister Penn. If they destroy the streetlights, we'll use our lights and retreat immediately, okay?"

Wilbur could sense how nervous Arsi was and tried to comfort him. "Don't worry, nothing's going to happen with me around."

Arsi trembled from head to toe as he said, "I do hope that you'll be able to help us get rid of the Night Demons, but they're a lot more complicated than you think. They move incredibly fast and can also jump really high. My friend and I ran into one at the parking lot last time. I would have died if my friend hadn't shot the Night Demon with a sniper."

"Oh? Why didn't you ask your friend to come along tonight?"

"He's..."

Tears welled up in Arsi's eyes as he fell silent, and Wilbur nodded empathically. "You could just leave, you know? Why did you choose to stay?"

"Because Diseya's my hometown, and I want to protect its pride with all I have."

Right after saying the words, the Night Demon collapsed onto the ground. Wilbur frowned and was about to take a closer look when Arsi pulled him back. "Don't go over there! That guy's a Night Demon, and you're nothing but prey to him! He's trying to lure you over, look!"

Wilbur turned to face Arsi. "Let me take a look. We'd be really cruel to leave him if he's really injured."
