Chapter 2307
Arkadi grabbed Wilbur's hands, looking rather emotional. "Thank you for protecting my small town, Mister Penn. As Head Elder of Bangsai, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have as long as I know them."
Wilbur had not forgotten his goal of coming to Diseya. The Night Demon case had held off Wilbur's search for the dragon cauldron fragment back then, but now that it was solved, he figured it was time he went back to looking for the cauldron
fragment.
Taking a deep breath, Wilbur said, "That's right, Elder Arkadi. I am pretty interested in Bangsai's culture and would like to know why despite Bangsai having grown Diseya to operate on par with a county-level city, the cultural foundation of Bangsai itself still remains like a village. Shouldn't Bangsai be the first place to be developed? Why hasn't anything changed?"
Bangsai was at the heart of Diseya, which was now so well-developed, but the same could not be said for Bangsai itself. That was definitely strange, and Wilbur felt like it might be related to the Dragon Cauldron piece. Diseya was now practically lined with luxurious skyscrapers, but there was a rule set in place in Bangsai that not even a single tree there was to be uprooted.
"Why did the rule come to be?"
Wilbur was rather curious, and so Arkadi told him the real reason behind things. It turned out that two hundred years ago, the leader of the Bangsai tribe had come to Diseya with his people when Diseya was merely a piece of barren land.
The tribe had been traveling for a while, and the sun was absolutely relentless. This caused them to face a water shortage, as they had not brought enough of it for their journey. On such a barren land under the scorching sun, it would take no time for one to become dehydrated. This miscalculation in water storage had caused the Bangsai tribe to have no choice but to stop in Diseya.
More than half the tribe was severely dehydrated due to the lack of water, and they would die of thirst if they did not get water soon enough. Diseya was practically a ghost land, and there were no sources of water to be found at all.
The tribe leader began digging a well with his people, but there was still no water in sight after digging roughly six meters underground. The people were losing hope fast when a Dashan passed by the land on his way to Moda. This Dashan man told the tribe leader that he could help everyone get a water source but on one condition.
The tribe leader, desperate to save his people, agreed to the Dashan man's condition. Following that, the Dashan man did indeed bring the tribe to a water source. The Bangsai tribe decided to settle down in Diseya after that, and that formed the Diseya in its current state over time.
Wilbur asked, "So what was the Dashan man's condition?"
"He told us not to change anything in Bangsai no matter what happened, or the entire town would become a barren wasteland."
"So, the Dashan man found those three wells for you?"noveldrama
"Yes, and we are so thankful that he did. Our tribe would have been wiped out otherwise."
Wilbur finally understood then that the Dashan man was probably none other than Senior Fremont Skye. However, Wilbur was unsure why Senior Fremont had not allowed Bangsai to change the village at all.
