Chapter 55: The Mother In-Law
Bryan, the owner of the most high-class bar in Makati, the man whom other rich and high-positioned individuals in the country respect, and the man who holds the most beautiful girl in the country, finds himself now enslaved by Giselle.
“Arghhhhhh! I hate coming to this place,” he hissed as he slapped the mosquito that landed on his hand.
“Where is that old hag?” he muttered while searching for the woman.
“Excuse me, do you know where Ellisa Diables is?” he asked the old man who was lying on the floor.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
“That woman? You should have come earlier,” the man said weakly as he tried to get up from the floor.
“Oh, old man, you don’t have to get up,” Bryan said to the old man, but the old man still insisted on sitting up.
“Geezzz.”
“Ho… Ho… Hoo… I can still do it,” the man said happily, causing Bryan to wince.
“How long have you been lying on the floor to say that?” Bryan asked as he looked at the pile of cardboard boxes the man had been lying on earlier, and now he was sitting down.
“It’s not important anymore. Are you searching for Ellisa Diables?” the man asked as he coughed and leaned against the wall.
“Yes, I’m looking for her.”
“Some men in black suits forcefully dragged Ellisa into their black van. It happened yesterday,” the man weakly said as he reached for something under his pile of boxes.
“I tried to save her from those men, but I’m a weak old man. The only thing that I got is this coupling from their suit,” the old man said as he reached his hand toward Bryan.
Bryan accepted the coupling that the old man gave him. “Thank you for the information, Old man,” Bryan thanked the old man. The old man just smiled at Bryan as he slowly reclined on the floor, closing his eyes.
“Old Man, are you okay?” Bryan asked the old man, quickly moving closer to his position.
“Old Man” Bryan was still calling his name as he put his index finger in front of his nostrils to check if he was still breathing. Bryan slowly closed his fist and bowed his head.
“Thank you for the last time, Old Man. Have a good rest,” Bryan mumbled as he grabbed his phone and called his assistant. He looked at the old man again, who seemed to be sleeping now.
Bryan silently said his prayers for the Old Man before he talked to his assistant.
“Send people to the address that I will send you,” Bryan ordered his assistant before ending the call without waiting for a response.
After the call, Bryan placed his business card in the palm of the old man. As he did so, he noticed the bruises and wounds on the old man’s hand, extending up to his neck. It looked like he had been injured while trying to save that woman.
“You are very old, yet you tried to save that wicked b*tch?” Bryan whispered before standing up.
“Now, I must report this to Giselle,” Bryan whispered as he walked away, leaving the place.
While walking, Bryan thought about what the old man had said regarding the woman who had been forcefully dragged away by unidentified men wearing suits.
“Is there someone else searching for that woman as well?”
Ellisa Diables is the first mother-in-law of Giselle, the mother of Giselle’s first husband, and the grandmother of her firstborn child. Giselle was searching for this woman because she had a question for her about the woman who wanted her to marry her child. Giselle believed that all of these things were connected to each other and had a conclusion in her mind. Giselle was forcibly married to Ellisa Diables’ son at the age of 16; she was forced to marry a man who was 15 years older than her.

Giselle silently ended the call when Bryan reported what happened to that woman.
“Where is she?” she mumbled as she looked outside the window of her room.
“That b*tch,” she mumbled as she watched the clouds in the sky, and a sudden memory visited her, remembering all her past in just a blink of her eyes.
Giselle remembered the time when she was crying, almost bawling her eyes out, when she heard that she was designated to marry an older man who was twice her age. She was scared and confused at that time as she didn’t know what to do. She remembered the time of her wedding day to Lucas. She was wearing a white dress and a long veil, and their wedding happened in the little chapel near the club. As soon as she lifted her veil, she was charmed by the godly looks of the man in front of her because he was so dazzlingly handsome. But his eyes were filled with pity. Maybe it was because her eyes were puffed due to crying all night.
Giselle remembered the first night they shared on their wedding night. She remembered feeling nervous and scared at that time, and she also remembered every thrust he gave in her small body. That was also the time when she became sexually active, but only with her husband because they had an action between them every day. After they got married, they resided in the province. Lucas was a farmer who owned a piece of land enough to make a living, and Giselle became a housewife who also supported her husband in the field. Although Lucas didn’t want her to work in the fields, Giselle did her part by bringing lunch to him.
She had a best life with him. She became a normal person who was respected in their place because of their love and affection for each other, which was evident in every kiss and every passionate night they shared. She suddenly remembered the time when she gave birth to their child. Lucas was beyond happy, and he was the one who gave their daughter her name, Clara. At that time, Giselle was contented with her life. She had a complete and wonderful family that she had never even dared to dream of before. She had a wonderful child and a loving husband, but she foolishly thought that it would last forever. On a normal day when the family was going to church, Lucas was hit and run over by an unknown black vehicle, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Giselle cried and cried because of the grief that she felt at that time. She was left with their child, and she didn’t know what to do.
At the funeral of her husband, Giselle met her mother-in-law for the first time. She was close to Lucas’s grandmother, Soleng, who helped her cope with the changes and taught her to become a better wife. However, Giselle was not close to Lucas’s mother, despite hearing some stories about her from Lucas. The information was minimal, as if her husband also wanted to forget his mother. Devastated, Giselle unconsciously agreed to put her daughter in an orphanage. It was too late when she realized her mistake, so she pleaded with Nanay Soleng to bring Clara into the orphanage and prevent anyone from adopting her. As a result of this event, Giselle saw herself as unfit to be a mother, leading to endless resentment towards her mother-in-law.
All these years, Giselle didn’t want to see the face of that wicked witch, but she needs information about her. She wonders why he let her son marry her and who is the person behind this. Is it connected to Xander’s Grandmother, or is it connected to the Monteverdes? She never thought that being a surrogate for a crazy billionaire and being married to him would lead to information about herself. Perhaps she will finally understand why her paternal side was so eager to get her back on their side, even though she has many siblings there. It’s ridiculous.
If she ever learns the truth, maybe she can finally escape the grasp of her family and live peacefully without leaving the country, but that is also a foolish dream of hers. Giselle has already learned a lesson from her experience: always expect the worst to be prepared for the future. With a plan in mind and the help of Xander’s fortune and connections, she can leave without a trace with her daughter and Nanay Soleng. They can live together, and she can redeem herself for her daughter. As for her child with Xander, she secretly hopes that the child will have a great life with his father and whatever future mother Xander may marry.
Giselle caressed her big belly as her eyes slowly closed due to the drowsy feeling she was experiencing. She has a lot of things to do with only a few months left, and she needs to finish everything before it ends.
” I need to find that witch as soon as possible”
