Chapter 564 Trampled on My Dignity
Emily's voice was icy. "I don't think I need to explain myself to you, do I?"
What Emily wanted to tell Archibald was that he was crossing the line.
Archibald was taken aback by Emily's cold demeanor. He quickly tried to explain himself. "I didn't mean anything by it. I was just confused. I came here today just to catch up with you. I went to your old place to find you, but the landlord said you had moved out. He also mentioned that you and..."
Archibald felt a surge of anger rising within him. He decided to just spit it out. "He said you and your husband had reconciled and moved back to Emerald Lake Manor."
Emily felt like she had been struck by lightning. She stared at Archibald, her mouth opening and closing, unable to form any words.
Archibald noticed something was off. He hesitated before calling out, "Emily?"
"What did you say?" Emily was so shocked she thought she had misheard.
The old place was one she had rented with Abigail. Archibald had only seen it once. No
one else knew about it. How did the landlord know about her and Michael?
Something wasn't right. Emily felt a chill run down her spine. There was only one explanation.
Emily stormed into the living room. Andrew and the others were enjoying their drinks, but they all felt the sudden chill. Andrew looked up and met Emily's gaze.
"Andrew, come here," Emily said coldly.
Andrew put down his glass, frowning as he stood up and walked towards Emily, sensing trouble. "Emily, what's so urgent?"
Emily didn't bother to reply. She walked out of the yard, and Andrew had no choice but to follow.
As expected, Archibald was at the door. Andrew's heart sank when he saw him. There was no time to call Michael.
Andrew tried to stay calm and greeted Archibald. "Archibald, long time no see."
Before Archibald could respond, Emily's sharp gaze turned to Andrew. "Tell me, does the landlord of my old place know Michael? Did you help me find that place? Did you also help pay the rent?"
As soon as she asked these questions, Emily realized she should have been suspicious all along. Why had she waited until now?noveldrama
Andrew was caught off guard by Emily's questions. He stammered, "There might be a misunderstanding, Emily. You..."

"How many times do I have to tell you? Don't call me Mrs. Smith! Michael and I are divorced. I am just Emily Brown!"
Emily's voice was firm and cold, her eyes burning with the desire for the truth. Andrew was startled, and Archibald's expression grew complicated. He quickly understood that Michael had arranged the secret place.
"Emily, you have to understand Michael's intentions. You were being harassed at Abigail's place. Sophia kept causing trouble. Have you forgotten? You were pregnant and couldn't afford any stress. Michael was just trying to protect..."
Emily was nearly hysterical. She couldn't understand why Michael wouldn't leave her alone. Why did he think she needed all this?
"I don't need his protection! How long are you all going to make decisions for me? Michael and I are divorced. The house at Emerald Lake Manor is my property from the divorce. Why does everyone think I'm taking advantage of him? I was with him for three years, and all I got was hurt. Who knows that?"
Emily's voice trembled, but she held back her tears. "I don't need your so-called kindness. My child and I can live without your pity!"
Andrew was silent for a moment, feeling a mix of emotions. "Emily, Michael meant well. The child's health is the most important thing, isn't it?"
"Meant well? Does that mean trampling on my dignity? I'm the child's mother. Don't you think I care about his health? What makes you think you love him more than I do? Keep your sympathy to yourselves!"

Emily finally understood that Michael's "good intentions" were just another form of control.
Just as Andrew was about to speak, a familiar voice interrupted. "Andrew."
It was Michael. He had returned from the Smith Corporation. He cut Andrew off, who then stepped back and stayed silent.
Emily was fed up with Michael's behavior. She took a deep breath, feeling a wave of frustration. He kept showing up where he wasn't wanted.
Emily turned to Michael, her gaze sharp and unyielding. Her anger and defiance were clear in her eyes.
Michael frowned, facing Archibald. He didn't want to explain anything. He sent Andrew away, and Andrew, understanding the situation, left with the bodyguards.
Now, only Emily and Archibald stood in front of Michael at Emerald Lake Manor. Michael felt a tightness in his chest. First Hayden, now Archibald. It was unbearable.
Michael took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He shot a glare at Archibald, but before he could speak, Emily interrupted.
"Archibald, you should go. I need to talk to Michael alone."
Michael scoffed and stepped aside, hands on his hips, waiting for Archibald to leave. Archibald, not wanting to leave without saying something, turned to Emily.
What do you think?
