“Miss Poppy is a good child psychiatrist? I think we should also ask other psychiatrists for advice.”

Hayden wasn’t willing to take Amapola’s advice because she didn’t think she was trustworthy enough.

“She would never hurt Noah.” Joseph felt a little uncomfortable, “You should trust her on that.”

“Why, you’ve known her for a long time?”. His words puzzled Hayden. She raised her eyes and looked at Joseph.

It was the same situation she had imagined when she saw Amapola. She had thought about this numerous times. But when Joseph told her about it, she was so dumbfounded that she felt as if hundreds of flies were buzzing around her.

Seeing that Hayden was silent, Joseph began to explain, “I hadn’t told you before because I was afraid you would misunderstand. I never thought I would see her again after Noah was born, but I happened to know what she was going through.”

Hayden forced himself to answer, “You’re saying her husband has cancer?”

“Yes.” Joseph frowned, “I’ve asked Magnus to arrange for the best treatment for her, but it’s terminal cancer. She doesn’t get my sponsorship either, she plans to study abroad in a year. But before that, she hopes to meet Noah.”

Hayden took a deep breath, shuddering at the situation.

If this was a trap, whoever had set it had planned it wisely. He had gotten Joseph’s sympathy by concocting a miserable story for Poppy.

No man would refuse her request.

The surrogate mother of his child was married to a man who developed advanced gastric cancer that could not be cured. She didn’t want his money, all she wanted was to get out of this town. Hayden wanted to mock him. “Am I being unreasonable, how did you verify her identity, did you run a background check, is she really Noah’s mother?”

Joseph adopted a fixed expression on his face.

Hayden thought he might cut to the chase. But he lost his mind when Joseph showed him a picture of the DNA test on his phone.

“Magnus has taken Poppy to get the DNA test, it can’t be wrong.”

“What about the lawyer?” Edison paused for a second, “He’s been waiting for you for almost half a month. Aren’t you going to meet with him?”

She didn’t want to file a lawsuit, she just wanted to maintain her relationship with Joseph. But the situation was causing her anxiety.
