Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 765

Chapter 765:

“Then why would she call me using a different number instead of her own?” Hadley murmured, her brows knitting tighter. “And her voice… it sounded strange.”noveldrama

Eric studied her carefully. “Strange how? Was she crying? Did she ask for help?”

Hadley shook her head. “No, but she sounded… anxious.”

The other voice—the one that had interrupted Elissa—had an unsettling quality to it. It wasn’t just firm; it carried a quiet, underlying threat. The second that voice appeared, the call had been abruptly cut off.

Why would Elissa hang up without calling back? Or had that person—whoever they were—cut her off?

A sinking feeling settled in Hadley’s chest. Could Elissa be in trouble?

She exhaled and looked at Eric. “The only clue I have is this blocked number. Track it down for me and…” But then, she hesitated.

Had she just… assumed he would? The request had slipped out so naturally, as if she were asking him to pass her a glass of water.

Eric, however, only smirked, amusement flickering in his gaze. He had caught the shift, too. Hadley was growing more comfortable with him. And judging by her expression, she had just realized it as well.

Hadley cleared her throat, feeling a little awkward. “I mean… if it’s not too much trouble… would you mind helping me out?”

Eric arched a brow, his smile deepening as he leaned in close—too close. His voice brushed against her ear, low and teasing. “How could I refuse my lovely girlfriend?”

Hadley stiffened, caught off guard. Her breath hitched, her cheeks warming. Something between them was shifting. Slowly, subtly, but surely.

Determined to prove himself, Eric wasted no time. As soon as they stepped back into Silver Villas, he pulled Hadley into his arms, capturing her lips in a deep, urgent kiss.

“Eric—”

Hadley barely managed to catch her breath, pushing lightly against his chest.

“Wait… let’s eat first.”

Eric smirked, his grip tightening around her waist. “Fun first, food later.” He wasn’t about to let her go—not after missing out on time with her over the weekend. He had every intention of making up for it.

Eric kissed her again, murmuring her name over and over, like a melody he couldn’t get enough of. “Hadley… Hadley…”

By the time they finally came up for air, Hadley was starving.

As Eric carried her out of the bathroom, she let out a huff of frustration before sinking her teeth into his shoulder.

“Ouch!” He flinched dramatically, though amusement danced in his eyes. Then, as if a wicked thought had just crossed his mind, he smirked. “Oh? Not satisfied yet? Should we go another round?”

Hadley shot him a sharp look before reaching up and tangling her fingers into his hair. “Keep talking nonsense, and I’ll rip it off with my bare hands!” She gave his hair a deliberate tug, making him yelp.

“Hey, hey, hey!” Eric chuckled, hands up in surrender. “Alright, alright! I give up!” But he wasn’t one to back down so easily. With a teasing grin, he added, “What’s there to be shy about? It’s perfectly normal for a couple to—ah!” Before he could finish, Hadley tightened her grip, and Eric immediately realized he had tested his limits. His hair was officially in the danger zone.
