Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 766

Chapter 766:

Thinking fast, he scooped her up and carried her downstairs, setting her onto a dining chair before she could retaliate any further. “Stay put,” he said, still grinning. “Dinner’s coming right up.”

The housekeeper had left their meal prepared, but by now, everything had gone cold.

Without missing a beat, Eric reheated the dishes and placed them in front of Hadley, the aroma filling the air.

“Here, eat,” he said, watching her with quiet amusement.

Too famished to argue, Hadley simply nodded, grabbing her fork and diving in without another word.

“Slow down,” Eric said, frowning as he watched Hadley eat like she was in a race. “Eat too fast, and you’ll choke.”

By the time he finished his meal, Hadley was still leisurely sipping her soup.noveldrama

Without wasting a moment, Eric pulled out his phone and dialed a number. “It’s me,” he said the moment the call connected. “Yeah… I need you to trace a number for me.”

He kept his tone casual, but Hadley knew exactly what the call was about—Elissa.

“I’ll send you the details later. Let me know the second you have something,” Eric added before hanging up.

By then, Hadley had set down her spoon, her eyes fixed on him expectantly.

Eric caught the look and raised an eyebrow. “What?” He leaned back, a smirk tugging at his lips. “You’re staring at me like that… Don’t tell me you’re full now and in the mood for another round?”

With an exaggerated sigh, Eric got up and scooped her into his arms.

“Alright, alright—your wish is my command—”

He let out an actual yelp of pain as Hadley pinched his arm, hard. “Ah! Ouch!” Narrowing her eyes, Hadley gritted her teeth. “Do you ever think about anything else? Keep this up, and you’re going to wear yourself out.”

Eric burst into laughter, completely unfazed. “Relax, your man is in peak condition! No need to start worrying about me for another forty or fifty years.”

Forty or fifty years?

Hadley nearly rolled her eyes. The confidence!

Yet something in her chest tightened. Had he really thought that far ahead? Did he see them together for that long?

By the next morning, Phillips had news.

As Eric stepped into his office, his phone buzzed with a message. It was an address.

“It’s a landline—technically hidden,” Phillips informed his boss.

However, he hadn’t visited the site yet.

“Mr. Flynn, would you like me to check it out first, or do you prefer to handle it yourself?”

Eric glanced at the address. Westgate Avenue. For some reason, a nagging feeling told him this was something he needed to see firsthand.

“I’ll go myself,” he said decisively. “You don’t need to worry about it.”

“Understood, Mr. Flynn.”

As it happened, Hadley had her team of artists to mentor today and wouldn’t be home until late. With time on his hands, Eric made his decision—he’d check out the place himself.
