Chapter 2266
"You're the moron!"
Lawrence took a few steps back and vanished again. Wilbur took two deep breaths before glancing at the wolf he had just cut in half. It turned into powder just like before and slowly reformed into the shape of a wolf in the air, becoming alive once again!
Wilbur found the whole thing pretty dumb and turned to leave. However, after taking a few steps, he stopped in his tracks and turned back to take a closer look at the wolf.
Lawrence's words replayed in Wilbur's mind once more, and he immediately had an epiphany. Lawrence was not the enemy here. In fact, he was actually trying to give Wilbur a hint! Lawrence was just acting on Senior Fremont's orders here. It was only natural that he wanted Wilbur to pass the test!
"Take this, idiot!"
Lawrence appeared on Wilbur's right side, and Wilbur blocked his attack. The two men locked eyes, and Wilbur whispered, "Thanks."
A look of shock flashed in Lawrence's eyes, and he staggered backward before disappearing. Wilbur turned around and killed another wolf that pounced at him before continuing his search for the formation core.
Wilbur had searched the entire field already, but there was still no sign of the formation core. This meant that there was an internal covering of sorts here, and it was in the form of these wolves.
The wolves being able to regenerate endlessly proved that they were connected to the formation. They were part of the formation, and killing a portion of the wolves would expose the formation's core.
Thus, Wilbur began to try killing one, two, and more wolves. It was only when he had killed 165 wolves that he managed to find the formation core. Wilbur destroyed it, causing the formation to disappear as he returned to the bottom of the well.
Wilbur had thought that Lawrence would return to the bottom of the well with him, but there was no sign of the guy. Wilbur looked around, saying out loud, "I know you're nearby. Thank you for the tip."
Back in the control room of the main formation, the men in black turned to look at Lawrence upon hearing Wilbur thank him.
Lawrence said, "I didn't do anything. I don't even know why he's thanking me." "That'd better be the case," said Kennard, "Or we're all going to be punished." Now that all five secondary formations had been destroyed, Wilbur could sense that their auras were gone. At the same time, the water level underground had lowered by ten centimeters.
Wilbur hesitated at the sight. After all, this hybrid formation was incredibly important to the people of Wrecknam. Nonetheless, he had to leave with the dragon cauldron fragment. How was he going to choose between the cauldron fragment and the lives of two hundred thousand people?
As soon as the thought popped into his mind, Wilbur shook his head violently. He did not want to have to make such a decision and felt that Senior Fremont would never hurt so many people just to design a test.noveldrama
The dragon clan were good people, and Senior Fremont was guarding their secret. That must mean that he, too, was kind.
Wilbur walked along for several dozen meters. All of a sudden, he felt the aura of the formation shift. There had been a thick, fog-like aura in the air the entire time since he entered from the well in the city center, but now it was replaced with something completely different.
This new aura was much more powerful, which meant that it had to belong to the main formation. Wilbur could sense that he had entered the main formation then and that the biggest test was about to come.
Kennard saw Wilbur come in from the control room. "Look, he's here."
Everyone turned away from Lawrence at last, who heaved a sigh of relief.
What do you think?
